Club Coaching

The aim of all our training groups is to help everybody to achieve their goal in running, be it just to have fun and keep fit, or to progress their personal best times via Club, League and National races.
Many of our groups run a progressive training program with their sights on particular races or League fixtures, aimed at producing better results for both the club and the athletes themselves.
Sessions are led for no extra charge by a combination of qualified (currently ranging from Level 1 through to Level 3) and volunteer Group Leaders.
The table below summarises the club's Coaching Structure and those who get involved in leading the sessions.

The Group Leaders aim to use the structure as a guide to ensure that participants get the maximum enjoyment from sessions by appropriately:
1. organising groups by ability
2. aiming to limit group sizes of no more than 10 runners
Before a session starts, they'll confirm the ability level of their group, the route to be taken, the planned session time and whether anyone is carrying any injuries.
In return, the Group Leaders ask that all runners observe the following "5 Rules for Runners":
1. Be on time for sessions
2. Wear Bright Colours when training in the dark
3. Personal Responsibility - listen to the Group Leader's instructions.
4. Collective Responsibility - look after each other.
5. Let Group Leaders know if you are struggling.
