We have a number of running groups that cater for a wide range of abilities, from 10-11 minute mile pace to sub 6 minute mile pace, please visit our FAQ page if you have a specific question. In addition, we cover varying running disciplines including track, cross-country, road racing, trail, marathons, as well as duathlon and triathlon.
We meet Tuesday nights in set groups, based on ability, for a planned speed session, such as 800m repetitions, hill repetitions, etc.

On Thursday nights, we meet for a long tempo run (approx 45 minutes to 1hour). Again, we have multiple groups who cover different distances and at difference speeds. On both Tuesdays and Thursdays, we meet at 7pm to go at 7.15pm.

On Saturday mornings, we meet at 9.15am in the clubhouse for notices followed by a group warm-up at 9.30am. At 9.45am we commence our group running sessions.

Saturday sessions are varied, some may do a speed session in Trent Park involving repetitions of some kind, i.e hills, pyramids, etc. whilst others may just wish to enjoy a social jog around the park.
We also have a long run on Sunday mornings (90-120mins), starting at 9am, that is ideal for marathon/half marathon training, as well as for those just looking to improve their 10k time.
We meet at Southgate Hockey Club (our clubhouse) in Trent Park unless otherwise stated.
Races
As a member, you are eligible to compete in our club events during summer and winter seasons free of charge. You are also entitled to run the 5k handicap each month at no extra cost.
In the spring/summer, we take part in a 10k road-running league as well as a vets track and field league (both held on weekday evenings).

In the winter, we take part in two cross-country leagues that begin in late September through to March: the Chingford League and Sunday League (which take place on Saturday afternoons and Sundays mornings respectively).

In addition we also enter teams in the County, Southern Counties and National XC Championships each year so there are numerous chances to race for the club.
Being a member of the club also entitles you to reduced fees on external races. We recommend that you consider racing because it will improve your overall performance in areas such as endurance, speed and strength - and the team spirit is simply uplifting.
Socials
The club prides itself on its friendly, social environment. All members are encouraged to stay behind after Thursday night and Saturday/Sunday morning sessions to have refreshments in the clubhouse. We have a socials team who organise events throughout the year, including an annual dinner & dance.
Volunteering
The club relies purely on volunteers, from the accountant and coaches to race organiser. We expect all members to offer their services each year by either marshalling, taking a training group or providing an article for the newsletter! Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to provide the facilities and activities that we do. If you would like to become more involved in the club, then please speak to one of the committee members and please consider voluteering when we ask for help from time to time.
